With a father like the “British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith, and a grandfather and uncle like Stu Hart and Bret “Hit Man” Hart, David Hart Smith has a wrestling lineage second to none. He grew up in the industry, idolizing his father and uncles, Bruce, Bret, Owen and Jim “The Anvil” Hart, among other members of Calgary, Alberta, Canada’s first family. Now, after years of training, David Hart Smith is ready to carry on his family’s rich legacy.
Sometimes watching David Hart Smith can be like watching a Bulldog highlight reel. He shares his dad’s unique blend of power, grace and agility. And he brings the kind of grit, determination and dedication to excellence that is a Hart family hallmark. He's also used his father's famed running powerslam to finish off opponents.
Indeed, it’s difficult not to see Davey Boy Smith when watching David Hart Smith. But the ECW Superstars is his own man and determined to write a new chapter in his family’s novel of greatness in the sport of kings. The British Bulldog’s pup has bite and represents a new generation of Harts in WWE. And somewhere up in the squared circle in the sky, Davey Boy is looking down on David Hart Smith and smiling with approval.
David Hart Smith was drafted to ECW on Syfy in the 2009 WWE Supplemental Draft. He made his ECW debut in May 2009 when he aligned with fellow Hart Dungeon-trained Superstar, Tyson Kidd, and Diva, Natalya, to form the trio who call themselves The Hart Dynasty.
Then, following a blockbuster trade in June 2009, the entire Hart Dynasty made the move to SmackDown.
