WWE NXT Results - August 31, 2010

The show opens with a video package reviewing the highlights of Season 2 which concludes tonight. Kaval, Michael McGillicutty and Alex Riley end the segment with voice-overs, saying they will win tonight. Cue Wild and Young music and standard NXT opener.
The pyrotechnics go off at the top of the ramp and we're live from the Times Union Center in Albany, New York. Michael Cole welcomes us to the air. We go to he and Josh Mathews who talk about tonight's finale. Over to Ashley Valence who announces the Pros from the ring - WWE Superstars MVP, Zack Ryder, John Morrison, Mark Henry, "Dashing" Cody Rhodes and The Miz.
WWE Star The Miz has a microphone and tells the fans to get out of their seats and welcome his Rookie, the only Rookie that has proved he's the next WWE breakout star, Alex Riley. Riley comes out and they head down the ramp. LayCool come out next and introduce Kaval in unison.WWE Star Kofi Kingston tells the fans to put their hands together for his Rookie Michael McGillicutty.
The remaining Rookies and their Pros are in the ring with Matt Striker. Striker welcomes the eliminated Rookies who were eliminated during Season 2. Titus O'Neal, Eli Cottonwood, Lucky Cannon, "Showtime" Percy Watson and Husky Harris as they are sitting front row ringside. Striker says the winner will not only be WWE's next breakout star but they will earn a championship match live on pay-per-view. But Rookies, tonight the pressure is times two because they are going to have another double eliminations. Striker tells Alex not to smile just yet. He asks Kofi if he's ready. The three Rookies will face off against each other in a triple threat match and that is coming up next.
Things break down after the announcement, with Kaval, Kofi and McGillicutty clearing the ring. Season 3 is going to be an all Divas edition. Kelly Kelly is introduced as a Pro and introduces here Rookie Naomi (Naomi Night in FCW and the current FCW Divas Champion). Cue a bio video package.

- Triple Threat Match: Alex Riley vs. Michael McGillicutty vs. Kaval
The start:
Back from the break and the bell rings. Kaval is going at it with McGillicutty. He applies a side headlock but Kaval gets out. Michael back on the offensive. Kaval counters with some high flying maneuvers and gets the first quick cover.
Mid-match notes:
Alex Riley is down in the corner as Kaval goes back to McGillicutty. Michaels goes off the ropes and lands a dropkick in a counter. He follows with a quick cover. Riley is back up and takes out both his opponents. McGillicutty counters and pins Riley for a two count. He takes out Kaval but eats kicks from Riley.
McGillicutty counters and hits a nice backbreaker on Riley followed by a cover. Kaval makes the save. Kaval takes out McGillicutty then works with Alex Riley. Hard chop from Kaval onto Alex Riley. Riley reverses it and delivers a chop the chest of Kaval of his own. McGillicutty comes over and takes out Riley then chops Kaval in the corner. He stomps Riley but Kaval hits a chop, knocking McGillicutty to the apron. Kaval attempts a suplex to bring him back in the ring but it's reversed and Kaval is thrown to the outside. Riley knocks McGillicutty to the outside as we go to break.

Back in the ring, Riley has McGillicutty in a sleeper on the mat. Kaval staggers back in the ring and breaks the hold. Riley was in control during the break. Riley gets back into the action and counters on both his opponents. Michael Cole high fives The Miz at ringside and tells him he's doing a great job. McGillicutty hits a clothesline on Riley and follows with a splash. He hits a belly-to-belly suplex and gets a two count when Kaval makes the save. Kaval goes to work on McGillicutty, hitting a spin kick to the face and a two count.
Riley climbs up to the top rope but Kaval comes over to stop him. Riley appears to knock him off but Kaval actually rolled through and took him off the to the outside with a kick. McGillicutty takes out Kaval from behind and gets a two count. Kaval counters and locks in the bite of the dragon (dragon sleeper). McGillicutty makes it to the ropes to have the hold broken. Kaval tries an innovative splash in the corner on McGillicutty but he gets out of the way.
The finish:
Fisherman's suplex by McGillicutty on Kaval. He goes for the cover but Riley pulls him out of the ring. McGillicutty gets out and takes out Riley on the outside. McGillicutty goes for the McGillicutter but Kaval counters, seemingly knocking him out. Kaval goes to the top but Alex Riley pulls him off and pins McGillicutty to win the match.
Winner - Alex Riley
Richard Reacts: Good match, wow what I would have done for this to be on last night's Raw. There was a lot of back and forth but it would have worked very well as a pay-per-view opener. Fast-paced action with no one in particular booked to dominate.
Alicia Fox is revealed as a Pro for Season 3, her Rookie is Maxine. They show a bio video package for her. We see the Pros comparing notes as we go to break.

Backstage, Goldust is revealed as a Season 3 Pro. Aksana is his Rookie. She's Lithuanian as they run her bio video package.
Matt Striker says the time for the first elimination is upon us. He wants to interview the guys eliminated. Titus O'Neal is first and asked who should win NXT and why. He says we got the Ninja, Will Ferrell's look alike and the guy trying to re-live his high school football days. HE says the guy trying to relive his high school days. Eli Cottonwood says Alex Riley should win because he has everything and is the most likable. Lucky Cannon says they flushed the show down the toilet when he was cut. Percy Watson picks McGillicutty. Husky Harris picks McGillicutty, saying he was just born better like himself and his pro Cody Rhodes.
Alex Riley has been eliminated.
The Miz is livid at the top of the ramp. Striker asks him for his final words. He says to Striker the worst part of the show is listening to him talk over him the entire time. Riley says 25% counts? He says his father wasn't a sports entertainer and he didn't spend his youth in a bar trying to develop a name for himself because he actually went to college. He says when this competition started no one knew who he is, but he nearly won because he's the most talented guy in this contest. Riley says he would bet the future of the WWE on Alex Riley.
The Bella Twins are revealed as two Pros for Season 3. Their Rookie is Jamie (Jamie Keyes). They run a bio video package for her.
- Commercial Break -
We're back at the announce table with Josh Mathews and Michael Cole. They recap the fact Alex Riley was just eliminated from the show. Cole says that's a shame as they show the video highlight package from WWE is Shanghai, China that aired on Raw.
Primo is revealed as a Pro for Season 3. His Rookie is A.J. (A.J. Lee). Cue her video bio video package.
Matt Striker is in the ring with Kaval and McGillicutty. He tells them to face one another. He wants them to tell the other Rookie why they should be eliminated and why they should win. McGillicutty asks LayCool if they seriously submitted their adopted ninja baby as a contestant on NXT. He tells Kaval he doesn't know if he should spank him and talks down to him for taking 13 years to get here. Kaval, that is your name right, doesn't that mean flute? Good name, I hope his parents are happy. No matter how much you like it... his time is up.
Kaval's turn on the mic. Kaval says, well let's think about this, Michael you were trained by WWE Hall of Famer Harley Race; you're a third generation Superstar. You were setup perfectly to be a star here. All I got is a high school diploma and a deep voice. I'm just a kid from New York. Kaval says it took him 13 years to get here but he's established himself around the world and got to be in the ring with legends such as Eddie Guerrero. His time is up as Matt Striker says one of these will be the next WWE breakout star and they'll earn a championship match on pay-per-view. Cole asks Mathews who he picks but he says we'll find out next.
- Commercial Break -
Vickie Guerrero is revealed as a Pro on Season 3. Her Rookie is Aloisia. Aloisia is Isis The Amazon, the 6'7 Diva. Cue her bio video package.
Matt Striker announces the winner of NXT Season 2 and the next breakout star is... Kaval! Kaval celebrates in the ring as LayCool hug him in the ring. McGillicutty looks dejected as Kaval gets a title shot at an upcoming WWE pay-per-view. Striker asks McGillicutty what's going through his mind. He grabs the mic from Striker but is slow to speak. Kofi, his Pro, stares from the ramp. McGillicutty says he doesn't know what to say... him? him? You are going to go to a PPV and have a title shot, you have got to be kidding me, that is going to suck. He tells Kaval he is nowhere near the level of Michael McGillicutty. He says ever since he started NXT it was to become a World Heavyweight Champion but he got eliminated today and lost his guaranteed shot at a title. Michael says that's not going to stop him from becoming a future world champion. He says he's going to be a big time player in WWE and is the next big thing, the next generation. Starting this moment, this will be the moment starting now, the genesis of McGillicutty. He gets a lot of heat on his way down the ramp.
Striker tells Kaval it's a long way from the dog house but the show is his. Kaval says he doesn't know what to say but says "thank you" to the WWE Universe. All of the eliminated Rookies hit the ring and take him out. The Pros run in to make the save. It's chaos in the ring as things have completely broken down. Referees come out to break up the melee. Husky Harris hits his finisher on Kaval. Alex Riley and Michael McGillicutty come back out and hit the ring. McGillicutty goes after Kaval but Kaval goes back after him. Riley just hit his finisher on Percy Watson. Harris has Kaval on the mat.
Percy Watson is thrown out by Riley. McGillicutty, Harris, Riley and Lucky Cannon work over Kaval in the ring. Harris hits his finisher as Riley delivers his finisher. The eliminated Rookies continue their beat down as Titus O'Neal hits his finisher. McGillicutty stands over him and talks him down. LayCool are mortified on the ramp.
We close with a video package highlighting WWE NXT Season 2.
Richard Reacts: The closing segment was way too much like The Nexus. WWE found a good thing with The Nexus but to make another "rebel" group out of eliminated rookies is overdoing the gimmick. The segment got heat but I'm not sure if it was for the right reasons. Thanks for joining us - goodnight everyone!
